Hi Mike, Just wanted to say thanks, for your inspiration, and help over the last three years. I am one of those people just like all the others who started to learn guitar (without a lot of help) way back in my teens (I am now 61). I first caught up with you in early 2006 and was really glad to find someone who was prepared to share his ability with others for free if that was all they could afford, and to do it well. It is amazing how many similarities there are in so many peoples lives. Myself and my wife and our eldest son did the round the world trip in early 2007 taking in some of South America Some of the Pacific Islands and New Zealand and a couple of places in Australia then Bali and Hong Kong on the way back. It sounds grand and was quite expensive but I don't see us doing it ever again and it was a bit of a whistle stop tour, but what an experience. The point of this rather long winded missive is that like you by the time I got to Cairns I was really missing my guitar you had really re-awakened an interest in me and we were fortunate enough to be staying in B&B with a really nice family who were all very musical and I was loaned a nice Yamaha for the week. I was so relaxed that I wrote an instrumental piece there, I wanted to write something that was easy to play and sounded as relaxed as I was, if you or anyone is interested you can find it at http://www.metacafe.com/watch/889381/lazy_sunday/. The last part of 2007 and the first few months of 2008 were trying to say the least as I had discovered a lump in my leg which turned out to be a tumor the subsequent operation and chemo/radio therapy were not too pleasant but I maintained a positive attitude with massive support from my wife family and friends and of course, learning guitar therapy, and now things are going well. By the way I too was a trainer in the latter part of my working life (electronics). Other folks would do well to listen to your advice on playing the guitar I would agree with all you have said but would just like to say that I bought a new guitar a couple of years ago it is so much more playable and helped me to go from playing WITH a guitar (for 40 years) to playing a guitar, perhaps some video advice on how to choose a guitar would be a good future project.....again many many thanks for all you do.....David Wilcox.
