Hi Mike
Your description sounds so like my own experience, My first guitar at 14 and struggled to learn anything that sounded good but I still wanted to persevere now in my fifties and still just as passionate about the guitar and the owner of 5 acoustic and electric guitars, I have to say that ive learn more in the short time since I found your website than I did in almost 40 years... I have been playing a guitar a lot longer than you, but you are a 1.000 time better than me.
All the best, and keep it up. Buddhavideo Re: Mike being interviewed by the writer Philip Martin

Absolutely spot on Mike. This is exactly the way to teach guitar to a beginner. Your website is the best teaching guitar method bar none and believe me I've seen them all. I've been playing guitar (badly) since the mid fifties and have learned so much in such a quick time from watching your videos. Keep up the good work.

Mike, great interview. I love your teaching method. I am trying to learn scales, modes, theory, the entire gambit but you offer a way to learn songs quckly. I don't think it has to be one way or the other, both work. I was being asked to play the guitar but all I could do was strum a chord, very slowly, or do scales. Now, I hope to use your teaching methodology to learn some songs. Thanks. Terrie

I agree that there are many methods but.......isn't it much nicer to be able to show them something they recognise as a song. Keep at it and thanks to everyone else for leaving your comments. Mike

Hi from Ky.
I just picked up the guitar again, I had tried playing some years back but quickly gave up. I am going to try it again. What i would like to know first is about tuning. I have a QuikTurner after reading instructions and surfing a bit. I still do not know if i tune holding the notes as if tuning by ear or just hit the strings open when using the QuikTuner. Any help on this? Thanx Mike W. elvis

hi mike
some time ago while learning your 20 simple songs comp, you had an elvis piece always on my mind ,you stated that you would compile a picking version of this in the future and i was wondering when this would be, as the picking version that you played on the back end of the strumming version was by far the better bill Re: Mike being interviewed by the writer Philip Martin
